Terri Ellis is a relationship leader of the Professional Services+ practice and the business and professional services industry practice for RSM Canada LLP.
Terri helps business and professional services (BPS) companies receive unparalleled value from their relationship with RSM. She oversees a $20 million portfolio of clients and is responsible for building an internal community focused on enhancing RSM’s ability to serve the business needs of the professional services industry in Canada. She also helped found RSM Canada’s BPS industry networking group to engage the next generation of RSM BPS leaders in the industry.
In addition, Terri helped launch the former RSM Canada Alliance, an affiliation of independent professional services firms in Canada.
Terri is passionate about RSM’s unique culture and optimizing the RSM client experience by being a first-choice advisor who models the firm’s five key characteristics (the 5 C’s)—caring, curious, collaborative, courageous and a critical thinker—to create value for clients, colleagues and in the community. She leverages her deep industry network to collaborate across teams to help organizations solve business challenges.
Terri has broad experience with CPA firms and financial organizations. While she started her career as a golf pro, she soon gained an interest in finance and economics, much to the detriment of her golf game. She has repositioned her career several times and has pursued education in economics and finance to help her gain an understanding of new areas of interest. This opportunity to pivot and learn new skills has kept her career fresh, and she appreciates the opportunity RSM has provided for her to pursue a unique path.
Her superpower is in her ability to think broadly and maintain a sense of curiosity that helps her fully understand the complexities around professional services. Terri is the executive sponsor for the firm’s Pride employee network group in Canada and a facilitator for the STAR employee network group, which designs programming for high-performing female leaders.
Terri has built a successful career at RSM thanks to leaders who are open to hiring beyond accounting and CPA professionals to grow and expand the firm’s business advisory services.
