Paul Kiel is a partner with RSM US LLP and serves as the Northeast regional leader of RSM US Alliance.


Experience

Members of RSM US Alliance seek out Paul to consult on practice management issues facing their leadership teams. He works closely with members to develop the trust between RSM and RSM US Alliance to jointly serve audit, tax and consulting clients and generate new business through collaboration.

Some of the practice management consulting services Paul performs include:

  • Business advisor for member accounting firms
  • Facilitating strategic planning processes and leadership meetings and retreats
  • Training and facilitating sessions focused on developing high-potential employees, succession planning, life cycle planning and growth.
  • Directing the development of specific strategies and action steps addressing firm governance, partnership agreements, partner accountability and growth
  • Facilitating strategy and collaboration meetings between RSM and RSM US Alliance members
  • Conducting annual financial analysis and benchmarking of RSM US Alliance members

Paul’s background is in audit and accounting. His article, “Challenges and payoffs: Implementing the new standards,” was published in the January 2008 issue of the Journal of Accountancy. The article focused on the risk standards introduced by Statements on Auditing Standards Nos. 104-111.

Paul has been with RSM since 2001 and with RSM US Alliance since 2002. Previously, he worked for Big Four accounting firms for 7½ years and a regional firm for 1½ years. His audit and accounting industry experience includes manufacturing, distribution, service organizations, nonprofits, health care, insurance, government and transportation. In addition, he served as a consultant for 2½ years specializing in human resources and information technology consulting.
