About Sue

Susan “Sue” Martinelli is a partner and Hartford, Connecticut,  office leader for RSM US LLP. Sue leads and actively participates in various firm initiatives and local and national task forces.


Experience

As office leader, Sue is responsible for leading talent development, client service and RSM strategic initiatives in the Hartford office. Since joining RSM in 2000, Sue has served as a mentor, career advisor and role model for colleagues across the firm. Sue is motivated by creating an exceptional talent experience, always striving to create connections and purpose for each individual and empowering each to be their best. Sue enjoys working with her clients through her consistent approach to listening, learning and bringing the firm’s full power to support her client’s growth and success.

As an audit partner, Sue has developed extensive experience serving a diversified client base across industries focused on the middle market globally. She focuses primarily on financial services, including financial institutions, specialty finance companies, business development companies and broker-dealers, among others. Sue also has experience with public company audits subject to SEC and PCAOB filing requirements, including public offerings and integrated audits of financial reporting. On a national level, Sue leads and participates on internal inspection teams across the firm each year, is a member of our capital markets Client Acceptance and Re-evaluation Committee and currently serves as the national assurance inclusion committee leader.

As a member of several of RSM’s employee network groups (ENG), Sue has a dedication to fostering an inclusive environment in the workplace. She participates in the Family First ENG, whose mission is to foster an inclusive and supportive culture for working families and caregivers, and STAR ENG, whose mission is to exercise and promote stewardship and teamwork, resulting in the advancement and retention of RSM’s women. Sue is an active coach to STAR women and the Connecticut executive sponsor of the local Multicultural ENG.

She engages employees in volunteering in the community and actively participates on various boards and in charity events for the profession and the betterment of students, families and children. Sue is also passionate about staying active with her two boys, Luke and Liam, and her husband, Andrew. She enjoys vacationing with her family and friends and watching her boys play baseball, basketball and football.
