Rhonda brings nearly 30 years of public accounting experience to her role as chief operating officer for RSM Canada LLP. She joined RSM Canada’s predecessor firm as an 18-year-old intern in the audit practice and eventually became a partner and a member of the leadership team. She has been instrumental in the tremendous growth of the firm during her tenure. In 2017, the firm merged with RSM, and she became COO in Canada. Since then, RSM Canada has acquired and integrated four public accounting firms. She is responsible for taking the best of RSM, including the firm’s culture, values and industry focus, and embedding it within RSM Canada’s culture while continuing to maintain the unique qualities of the Canadian firm.
As market leader, Rhonda is responsible for the growth and culture within the Ontario market, guiding RSM professionals on the firm’s growth journey. Rhonda’s core strength is relationship-building, both in her personal and professional life. Known for her drive to get things done, Rhonda has a keen ability to tap resources among her high-performing team. She begins internal meetings with her motto—make a choice to make a difference—calling on RSM’s motivated and capable professionals to take an all-hands-on-deck approach to building RSM Canada.
Sociable by nature, Rhonda is passionate about RSM’s people and maintains a focus on both the client and talent experience. Her empathetic and nurturing leadership helps her connect with both clients and colleagues. She advanced in her career thanks to the interest of leaders before her, and she does the same for others, creating her own legacy within the firm. Rhonda has always built a team around her personally and professionally, which she found helpful as a partner and working mom raising two children.
Rhonda is a regional champion for culture, diversity and inclusion in Canada and is passionate about encouraging people to show up as their authentic selves. She is a member of the employee network group council, helping RSM professionals align to one of the firm’s ENGs to enhance racial and cultural understanding. Rhonda believes an important element of the talent experience is reminding people that they are part of something bigger.
Born and raised in a small blue-collar town in northern Ontario, she leveraged the best of her attributes to achieve a high level of success in her public accounting career. In 2021, Rhonda was named a fellow by CPA Ontario, the highest distinction bestowed upon a CPA in the accounting profession.
