Murat is an experienced corporate tax leader who works with public and private companies in a broad range of industries to deliver strategic tax planning solutions through the latest tax technology and streamlined processes. He is well-versed in the firm’s capabilities and serves as one of RSM’s enterprise account leaders to help identify and deliver the full strength of the firm at an enterprise level.
As national service line leader for the tangible property business practice, a focus within the credit and incentive methods area, Murat works with a team of 30 professionals, pairing technical knowledge with technology to maximize the value of fixed asset investments. A tax generalist with a high business IQ, he enjoys solving business challenges and identifying opportunities for clients to create value in their business.
Murat’s experience prior to RSM spanned local, regional and Big Four public accounting firms. His “great journey” through public accounting has exposed him to many different industries, from industrials to consumer products to real estate, and to all types of clients and situations. A CPA with a master’s in tax, Murat combines his educational background with deep experience working in the field and a highly creative mind. As a leader, he encourages his team not to jump to conclusions, but to engage in listening, discovery and collaboration that will help uncover underlying causes of client issues. He appreciates the opportunities to help coach the smart, capable and resourceful rising stars that make up RSM’s professionals.
Born and raised in Turkey before living in Germany for a time, Murat moved to the United States at 18 to attend college, and stayed to pursue his American dream—learning the language, marrying and starting a family, and building a highly successful career. He serves on the firm’s multicultural employee network group and shares his experiences living in the Middle East, Europe and the United States with other RSM professionals through the firm’s culture, diversity and inclusion efforts.
Murat is passionate about soccer, both as a now-retired coach to his kids and as a player. He competed at a high level in high school table tennis and loves the game of chess. He volunteered as an elementary school chess coach, helping kids build their skills to the point of nearly beating him, although they never did—which Murat maintains is the best way for people to learn and improve.
