About Mike

Mike Gillis is an RSM consulting principal responsible for RSM’s relationship with Microsoft. Mike brings a successful software industry entrepreneur’s experience and point of view to RSM’s strategic relationship with Microsoft. Mike is a recognized industry leader in the Microsoft ecosystem, having built several large global Microsoft-focused businesses before joining RSM. 


Experience

Mike is obsessed with providing compelling business outcomes for clients at scale and is inspired by Issac Newton who said, “If you can learn to stand on the shoulders of giants, you can get bigger, faster,” which Mike applies to the art of strategic alliances. RSM benefits from standing on the shoulders of Microsoft, the enterprise software giant, and Microsoft benefits from standing on the shoulders of RSM, the technology and professional services giant serving the middle market. The results are clients that are successfully bridging the gap between the digital revolution and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. RSM and Microsoft are achieving compelling business outcomes with modular end-to-end industry solutions that are built on Microsoft Cloud across all six Microsoft solution areas. RSM delivers with industry focus; enterprise software domain experience; tier-1 people, processes and tools; and an emphasis on creating quick wins for clients.

Prior to joining RSM, Mike verticalized horizontal platforms and tools from Microsoft, SAP and Oracle into successful companies that exited to industry leaders like Hitachi, DXC, Enron, ABM, IFS/Astea, Schneider Electric and Rainbow Technologies.

Mike builds large, global Microsoft-focused businesses. He has been an integral leader and trusted advisor to Microsoft for thirty-plus years, building several industry-leading global Microsoft partners. In 2004 Mike co-founded and was CEO of Iteration2, a startup that won Microsoft U.S. Partner of the Year in 2005 and again in 2006. Iteration2 was then sold to Hitachi in 2007, and Mike led Hitachi’s global Microsoft business. Before joining RSM, Mike led DXC Technologies’ Microsoft business.

Mike and his wife Maribeth have founded several businesses together and have co-founded private schools including most recently JSerra Catholic High School, a private coeducational Catholic high school located in San Juan Capistrano, California. Named after Saint Junípero Serra, the school was founded by parents in 2003 and is an independent school sanctioned by the Diocese of Orange. Jserra provides education to approximately 1,600 students per year.
