Prior to joining RSM, Joseph was a partner in a Big Four firm and spent over 31 years in a variety of roles. He led and executed strategic firm-wide audit initiatives, including the implementation of new auditor reporting requirements. He was also responsible for the reporting of critical audit matters and auditor tenure under PCAOB auditing standards and key audit matters under IAASB standards. Under his leadership, enhanced policies, procedures and enablement for performing engagement quality reviews and other risk- management processes were implemented.
In addition, he was the lead subject matter expert in the areas of accounting for transfers and servicing of financial assets, investments in certain debt and equity securities, balance sheet offsetting, foreign currency matters, and vendor payment arrangements, among other topics. He also led or contributed to the development of guidance for applying the new revenue recognition standard to the activities of broker-dealers, asset managers and depository institutions. Joseph provided audit and advisory services to a variety of entities in the financial services industry, including major diversified financial institutions, investment banks, brokers and dealers in securities, and both private equity and hedge funds. Clients included both private and public companies..
