Jonathan Wiggins is RSM’s deputy chief accountant and a partner in the firm’s national professional standards group. He advises on complex accounting matters, including revenue, consolidation and business combinations. In his role, he also develops accounting guidance, tools, training and thought leadership.
Before he joined RSM, Jonathan served as the deputy chief accountant of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and spent over 22 years at the SEC and a Big Four firm in a variety of roles. He led the activities of the Office of the Chief Accountant’s accounting group, including support of the commission's oversight of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, rulemaking activities and technical consultations from public companies, auditors, and divisions and offices within the SEC on the application of accounting standards and financial disclosure requirements.
Jonathan also served as a subject matter expert on consolidation (topic team leader), revenue recognition, business combinations, compensation, long-lived assets, financial statement presentation and segment reporting. In addition, he served as the chair of the accounting subcommittee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions’s committee on issuer accounting, audit and disclosure. He reviewed filings of SEC registrants for compliance with accounting and financial reporting requirements and audited financial statements of clients in the consumer products, construction, technology and entertainment industries.
