About Joel

Joel Shamon is the enterprise assurance leader for RSM US LLP. He is responsible for the leadership and management of the assurance line of business, including strategy and execution, and is a member of the firm’s executive leadership team.


Experience

Joel has more than 35 years of experience in the audit profession, largely serving publicly traded companies in the financial institutions industry. As the enterprise assurance leader, he oversees the growth and profitability of the practice. He leads the development and implementation of assurance policies and procedures, assurance learning and development, and the development and maintenance of audit technology tools and applications.

He has been instrumental in the digital evolution of the assurance practice to provide world-class tools and technology to help team members serve clients better. As a forward-thinking leader, his interest in data analytics, automation and artificial intelligence helps streamline processes and increase efficiencies for RSM colleagues and clients.

Previously, Joel served as the Northeast region assurance leader and was a member of the RSM US LLP Board of Directors. Prior to joining RSM, he was the assurance leader and executive committee member of a firm that RSM acquired. He also had a 15-year career at a Big Four firm where he was the partner-in-charge of the banking industry for the New England assurance and business advisory practice.

At RSM, he mentors in RSM’s STAR program, which helps develop high-performing women to reach their career goals. He is also the executive sponsor for the firm’s Family First employee network group that helps address work-life integration issues. Outside of RSM, Joel enjoys golf and spending time with his family.
