Chris Blackburn is the lead internal controls partner in the National Professional Standards Group at RSM US. He leads efforts to develop firm guidance around internal controls as well as related consultations and coaching for engagements within the firm. He works directly with regulators to stay informed on hot topics in this area and regularly facilitates trainings both internally and externally.
Prior to joining RSM in December 2019, Chris worked for a Big Four firm for more than 12 years. His experience includes auditing both public and private clients, primarily in the power and utilities industry, including evaluating coal inventory and assessing asset retirement obligations.
During his time at that firm, Chris worked as an internal control subject matter expert for its national office. He performed consultations with engagement teams, facilitated trainings and published relevant guidance.
Chris is passionate about the impact of internal controls on a company’s business processes and on an external audit. He aims to identify ways that internal controls can provide quality and efficiency to any business process.
During his free time, Chris enjoys playing sports or hiking outdoors with his family.
