Effective September 11, 2026, RSM Canada LLP (RSM Canada) reached a settlement agreement with the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB). The agreement concerns RSM Canada’s electronic audit workpaper sign-off practices and related quality control processes from 2017 through September 2023.
As part of this agreement, RSM Canada neither admitted nor denied the CPAB’s findings. The CPAB also acknowledged RSM Canada’s cooperation with the investigation and recognized the changes that were made in September 2023 to prevent similar actions from taking place in the future.
RSM Canada intends to take all necessary measures required by the settlement, including reviewing its policies and procedures and providing additional training to professionals involved in audits of Canadian reporting issuers.
