RSM Canada partners to be presented with prestigious Canadian Institute of Actuaries Awards

RSM Canada - a leading global provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market - is pleased to announce that actuarial services partners, Joel Cohen and Steve Prince, have been selected to receive prestigious Canadian Institute of Actuaries recognitions.

The Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) is the national organization and voice of the actuarial profession in Canada. Their members are dedicated to providing actuarial services and advice of the highest quality. The Institute holds the duty of the profession to the public above the needs of the profession and its members.

Following the successful completion of three terms of service with the CIA and in recognition of this significant milestone, Joel is to be presented with the Award of Honour, formerly known as the bronze award. Steve has achieved the Award of Excellence, reserved for those who have successfully completed 12 terms of service. Their accomplishments will be celebrated at the annual CIA Legacy Awards later today.

Joel is the financial consulting leader and a partner in the actuarial services group at RSM Canada. With almost 35 years of actuarial consulting experience, he provides innovative and value-added consulting solutions in a number of areas including affinity/association insurance design, delivery and optimization; capital deployment and efficiency; employment benefit design, delivery and funding; life, disability and critical illness insurance; reinsurance and reinsurance structuring; and tax efficiency.

As head of RSM Canada’s stochastic modeling unit, Steve has considerable expertise in the development and results-oriented implementation of stochastic models in a wide range of insurance, investment and risk management situations. These models allow companies to analyze and mitigate their exposure to a wide range of opportunities and potentially adverse situations. Steve is also a qualified life valuation actuary and has extensive experience in financial reporting, pricing, Independent Actuary opinions and reviews in the life insurance sector.
