Toronto, ON – RSM Canada, the leading global provider of audit, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, congratulates the Mushkegowuk Council, the Ontario Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on reaching a Revenue Resource Sharing Agreement. This is a landmark agreement that provides participating First Nations communities with a predictable source of funding that will support social and economic development.
RSM Canada’s projects and economics team, led by RSM Canada lead economist, Alex Kotsopoulos, was engaged by the Mushkegowuk Council to provide technical assistance in the negotiation of the funding formula of this agreement.
“This signifies a milestone agreement between the Government and a First Nation’s community, and an important step towards reconciliation,” said Kotsopoulos, “The funding creates an opportunity to make a real difference for First Nations communities and will also support the institutional development of the Mushkegowuk Council, which we believe is essential to sustainable economic growth. I’m thankful that RSM was selected to be a part of this, and I hope that it becomes a model for other First Nations communities.”
