2019 ASPE and ASNPO Update: Major changes you should be aware of


On Wednesday, November 20, RSM Canada invites you to join us for our annual ASPE and ASNPO update for 2019.

Our annual update will cover the new standards and amendments that are in effect in 2019, and the upcoming changes in 2020 and in subsequent years. Specifically, the presenters will discuss the following topics:

ASPE - New Amendments

  • Section 3865 - retractable or mandatorily redeemable shares issued in a tax planning arrangement
  • Section 3865 - accounting for related party financial instruments and significant risk disclosures
  • Section 3051 – investments in jointly controlled enterprises accounted for using the cost method
  • Section 3465 – income taxes presentation and disclosures

Update on Canadian Accounting Standard Board Projects

  • Agriculture
  • Revenue
  • Employee future benefits – use of a funding valuation

ASNPO - New Standards

  • Section 4433 - tangible capital assets held by not-for-profit organizations (replaced section 4431)
  • Section 4434 - intangible assets held by not-for-profit organizations (replaced section 4432)
  • Section 4441 - collections held by not-for-Profit organizations (replaced section 4440)
