This 2023-2028 accessibility plan outlines the policies and actions that RSM Canada has put in place to improve opportunities for people with disabilities.
Statement of Commitment
RSM Canada is committed to treating all people in a way which allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration and equal opportunity. We are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner and will do so by preventing and removing barriers (including attitudinal, information and communication, technological, systemic, and physical/architectural barriers) to accessibility and meeting accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
Accessible Emergency Information
RSM Canada is committed to providing customers and clients with publicly available emergency information in an accessible way upon request. We will also provide employees with disabilities with individualized emergency response information when necessary. Any such notice states the reason for the disruption, how long the service or facility will be unavailable, and a description of any alternative facilities or services.
Training
RSM Canada will provide training to employees, permanent, contract, co-ops, volunteers, and other staff members on Ontario’s accessibility laws and on the Human Rights Code as it relates to people with disabilities. Training will be provided in a way that best suits the duties of employees, volunteers, and other staff members.
RSM Canada has taken the following steps to ensure employees are provided with the training needed to meet Ontario’s accessible laws including:
- All new hires will review the RSM Canada AODA training guide and acknowledge inwriting that they have completed this mandatory training
- All new hires will attend training session when required
Customer Service
RSM Canada is committed to providing accessible customer service, including providing accessible formats and communication, supports for persons with disabilities, allowing assistive devices, welcoming service animals and support persons, providing notice of temporary disruptions, providing accessible options for customers to provide feedback including via telephone, in-person, electronically in written (including braille) or recording means and via other accessible means, and providing documents in an accessible format upon request.
Information and Communications
RSM Canada is committed to meeting the communication needs of people with disabilities. We will consult with people with disabilities to determine their information and communication needs and provide accessible communication options.
RSM Canada has taken the following steps to make all new websites and content on those sites conform with WCAG 2.0, Level AA:
- Compliant font size and contrast across the site
- High contrast toggle added to allow balance between RSM brand colors and accessibility/contrast
- Alt text for images
- Limited use of text in design graphics
RSM will continue to evaluate the WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance requirements.
Employment
RSM Canada is committed to fair and accessible employment practices.
We have taken the following steps to notify the public and staff that, when requested, RSM Canada will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment and assessment processes and when people are hired:
- All job postings state accommodations for job applicants with disabilities are available uponrequest
- RSM Canada will work with job applicants to accommodate applicants with disabilities duringthe application and recruitment process including ensuring that the various aspects of theprocess are accessible to individuals with disabilities
RSM Canada will take the following steps to develop and put in place a process for developing individual accommodation plans and return-to-work policies for employees that have been absent due to a disability:
- RSM Canada will work with employees with disabilities and medical professionals if neededto ensure we are accommodating to the needs of the individual with a disability
RSM Canada will take the following steps to ensure the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities are taken into account if RSM Canada is using performance management, career development, and redeployment processes:
- RSM Canada will accommodate people with disabilities during their employment. Any staffwith a disability is invited to contact Human Resources regarding any accommodations required. Our Human Resource team will work collaboratively to develop individual accommodation plans including for performance management, career development, and redeployment.
Design of Public Spaces
The Firm will meet the Design of Public Spaces Standards when building or making major modifications to public spaces.
We will also put reasonable procedures in place to prevent service disruptions to accessible parts of these public spaces and to deal with temporary disruptions when accessible elements required under the Integrated Accessibility Standards are not in working order.
