Family First employee network group

Celebrating and supporting working families at RSM

Our Family First employee network group (ENG) fosters an inclusive and supportive culture for working families and caregivers-one that values and encourages different perspectives on issues important to families. The goal is for those perspectives to be taken into consideration in the employment, career development and retention efforts of diverse individuals in the workplace. Family First serves as an active voice around shared family challenges and promotes an inclusive, respectful workplace.

Family First partners with other ENGs to promote mental health and well-being, work-life flexibility and development for working parents/caregivers. Through activities and sponsorships, this ENG connects employees with family commitments to enable them to support one another, share knowledge of firm benefits and address issues in the workplace that affect families.

Inclusion Starts with I: Family First

In our “Inclusion Starts with I” video series, CEO Joe Adams hosts candid conversations with members of our employee network groups. In this video, he talks with the national leader and other members of the Family First group.

Celebrating dads

It’s the third Sunday in June, and that means it’s Father’s Day in the U.S. and Canada – a time for celebrating fathers, fathering and fatherhood.

Fathers and father figures are special. So it’s only fitting that we celebrate their influence on society every year on this special day. We have Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane Washington to thank for initiating the first celebration of Father’s Day in honor of her father, Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, a single parent who raised six children. Having been raised by a single dad, Dodd felt that fathers deserved a special day of recognition similar to Mother’s Day for moms.

While it took a while to take hold, today Father’s Day is marked with cards, gifts, cookouts, family time and other special activities – all in honor of fathers and father figures, and the unique role they play in our lives.

Here at RSM, we celebrate the differences of our diverse employee population every day, and we take every opportunity to acknowledge observances, activities and events that are important to our people, all of whom have or had parents and many of whom are parents themselves.

So if you’re someone’s father or father figure, regardless of how you plan to spend the day – whether it’s relaxing by the pool, barbequing in the backyard, zipping across a lake on a boat or jet ski, hitting balls on a golf course or anything else that you find enjoyable – on behalf of RSM’s Family First employee network group (ENG) and our 13,000+ people across the U.S. and Canada, I’d like to wish you a very Happy Father’s Day!
