November is National Adoption Month, providing an opportunity to celebrate families who have grown through adoption and those who facilitate the adoption process. Whether you’re one of the nearly 7 million Americans who have been adopted or are simply passionate about the positive impact it has on families worldwide, the month of November is the perfect time to learn more about adoption and help spread awareness.
Throughout the month, many businesses and communities host fundraisers, community activities and awareness campaigns in support of adoption. If you’re looking for a way to show your support, there are many opportunities, including attending an event in your community, spreading the word to family and friends via social media, volunteering at a local foster care organization or mentoring a child in the foster care system. Each of these actions help support the nearly 440,000 children in the U.S. who are in foster care on any given day.
So, how is RSM doing their part to support our people who are starting or expanding their families? For starters, we’ve recently increased our adoption and surrogacy benefit as well as our fertility lifetime dollar maximum. In addition, we recently increased our parental leave – for those who have birthed or adopted children.
At RSM, we embrace differences and we do a number of things to demonstrate our commitment to inclusion, including investing in 12 employee network groups (ENGs), one of which – our Family First ENG – is focused on fostering an inclusive and supportive culture for working families and caregivers. On behalf of our Family First ENG, and the rest of our nearly 14,700 people across the U.S. and Canada, we appreciate your support of growing families during National Adoption Awareness Month.
