Shawn Gilronan is principal and national leader of data analytics within the consulting line of business for RSM US LLP. He leads a growing team of management consultants who are focused on helping clients with all facets of their organization’s data. He also serves on the leadership team for industrial products.
Shawn is a results-driven information technology professional with more than 17 years of experience harnessing data into a strategic asset for businesses. As data analytics leader at RSM, he works with a diverse multidisciplinary team to help clients with all facets of their organization’s data, from capturing data to storing data and beyond. He helps clients leverage data to make smart decisions to gain a competitive advantage in their business. His team provides benchmarking studies to understand gaps in data maturity models and assists clients in consolidating data to leverage it as a decision-making asset. His broad client base includes nonprofits, member-based trade associations, and oil and gas companies.
A key member of the industrials leadership team, Shawn has deep experience working in mining and metals, industrial products and banking. Prior to RSM, Shawn has led large-scale banking IT implementations, ERP selection and delivery, as well as projects using big data at the convergence of IT and operations technology. He was among the first to implement IOT data platforms in mining, using analytics to manage predictive and prescriptive maintenance on mining equipment. He is active in the Oracle community and frequent speaks on data-related topics at Oracle’s OpenWorld.
Shawn is passionate about building strong relationships, particularly within his team, which is located in disparate office(s) across the United States. He works diligently to maintain strong connections and operate as one cohesive team, working across RSM’s service lines to bring the full strength of the firm to market. Shawn is proud of the diversity represented within the data analytics team. He is active in RSM’s Multicultural employee network group, which connects people from diverse cultures across the firm.
Known for his desire to find the next challenge, Shawn obtained an MBA with a focus on organizational behavior theory and executive leadership. He uses his education and experience to inform how he interacts across channels and disciplines at RSM. He holds certifications in project and program management from the Project Management Institute and is proud of his team’s growth under his leadership.
A car racing enthusiast and self-described nerd (he has a data center in his basement), Shawn enjoys spending time outside of the office with his family and can be found coaching his two young kids in soccer and T-ball.
