As the global economy begins a synchronized slowdown in 2019, trade disruptions in North America are compounding the level of stress on Canada’s financial markets. Based on the RSM Canada Financial Conditions Index, both the investment climate and overall economic growth will see a sluggish pace over the course of the year. On the rise is the digital economy, which grew faster than the total economy between 2010 and 2017, according to a Statistics Canada report. The data points to, among other factors, a lag in the economic readiness for digital transformation, compared to the knowledge base.
