Toronto, ON – RSM Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of several partners and senior leaders to the following industry groups: finance and insurance, not-for-profit, private equity, real estate and construction, business and professional services, and government, health care and education.

The industry leaders will form working groups with professionals locally, nationally and globally to bring a holistic, industry-specific point of view to our clients. By staying abreast of industry trends, opportunities and challenges, we help our clients move forward with confidence. 

Joel Cohen, consulting leader and partner, will lead the finance and insurance group. With nearly 30 years of actuarial consulting experience, Cohen has assisted finance and insurance organization develop reinsurance strategies, design, implement and optimize insurance structures, and has provided advice on capital deployment and efficiency.

Committed to helping not-for-profit organizations (NPO) achieve their mission, Stephen McCourt, audit partner, will take charge of the NPO group. McCourt previously sat on a number of NPO working committees. Stephen regularly provides practical training seminars to leaders in the sector, including sessions with CPA Canada.

Private equity organizations can count on Ben Gibbons, partner, for industry-specific advice. As the leader of the firm’s capital markets & M&A advisory group, Gibbons has extensive experience working with private equity investors looking to acquire or sell portfolios.

Mark Jakovcic, audit partner, will leverage the firm’s professionals to assist real estate and construction companies, including real estate investment trusts. Jakovcic has significant experience with private companies, those looking to go public and publicly listed organizations, allowing him to identify needs relating to audit, tax structuring and other business advisory.

Michael Nicoló, audit partner, will lead the business and professional services group. With a wealth of dedicated business and professional services experience in over 20 years in public accounting, Nicoló brings a strategic point of view to his clients. He presented to numerous organizations, including the Canadian Bar Association, on issues pertaining to this industry.

Alex Kotsopoulos, vice president, projects & economics, spearheads the government, health care and education industry group. Having evaluated capital projects from a financial and macro-economic perspective, and having conducted numerous socio-economic impact studies for public sector organizations, Kotsopoulos understands the challenges these organizations face in a changing economic environment.
